Where has all the time gone? WLHS is such a
vivid memory! I can’t remember what I did last week or this
morning; but, WLHS is vivid! After WLHS I went to Purdue where I
met my wife Cathy. We got married after PU and I went to work for
Westinghouse Electric Corp. in finance. We lived in Bloomington,
IN, PA three times – Sharon, Pittsburgh, and Blue Bell, and Raleigh,
NC twice. We have decided that we like Raleigh and have retired
here (for now).
I stayed at Westinghouse until they sold me to ABB in 1992. Then
came the downsizing that seems to catch most of us and at age 50 I
had to decide what I wanted to do when I grow up. I decided to semi
retire and try to lower my golf handicap by working at a golf
course. It sort of worked – the handicap came down, but not enough!
I decided it would be fun to sell lemonade at festivals, so I bought
two lemonade carts and sell lemonade for fun. I think I might be
the only person with an MBA in finance selling lemonade on the
street corner! There certainly is not enough time to pursue my
other hobbies of a little consulting, golf, motorcycling, and
cruising the internet.
We have one son and one granddaughter living in Dallas and we visit
there often.
My years in WL are a fond memory. I have truly enjoyed the past
reunions. I keep in touch with many classmates by email and visit
regularly with Jim Bradshaw who also lives in Raleigh. My mother
still lives independently in a condo in WL so we visit often. She
turns 94 in 2008 and is in good health.
