We live in Toms River NJ - yes,
Storm Sandy hit here! Fortunately we did not have any home damage
as we are inland, but many folks we know are still displaced, have
had to raze their home and therefore lost everything. Others are
raising their home and that's another story for them - moving out
for the process, being displaced once more. Toms River is still
struggling to recover financially and physically - it's a long
process. Through our own congregation we have been part of the
process of helping folks remove walls, flooring, ceiling,
electrical, you name it - and then reconstruct. Helping others is
the positive aspect of all the destruction the storm created.
We have lived in Toms River 30
years, the longest anywhere. Graham (hubby) was in the Navy 20
years so our moves numbered 17 during our time in service. After
the Navy he flew corporately and traveled the world. Once he
retired we have visited some amazing places: Antarctica, Australia/
New Zealand, China, Galapagos and Machu Piccu (and yes, we climbed
all the way to the top - and all sorts of questions loom today about
the people who lived there and their disappearance), several
countries in So. America, Russia, Italy, Greece, Nova Scotia - it's
been fascinating and a real eye opener to the beauty and freedoms of
our own country. We still have a long list of places to visit -
both inside and outside the country.
We have two daughters: the
elder resides in PA near Hershey, with her hubby and three children
(Grand kids are just the most fun!); the other daughter and her
hubby live in Island Heights, NJ, not all that far away. Graham & I
are still very active in our community, loving life and each other.
How can we beat that!
Again, I will look for pictures
to post on the website. Sending blessings!
