Don't have
any dramatic or impressive story to tell. After graduating from WLHS,
I graduated from IU, than did graduate work at Purdue while my
husband was deployed. Although I did teach special education, work
in the local hospital and local high school; my primary focus has
been my family: my husband Mike of 46 years, who I met at IU. He is
still working parttime, but retired both from GE and as a Colonel
from The Army. We also have 4 children and 7 grandchildren. Our
oldest granddaughter will be in her last year at West Point and our
youngest grandchild is 2. They all have been blessings to us, and I
have been the primary babysitter for most of them, even when working
or taking care of mom.
Besides
family, our focus has been volunteer and mission/church work. The
picture is of us a year after the earthquake in Haiti finding a book
and toothbrush from the building we had been in while in Haiti and
during earthquake - an experience. (I found most of my pictures
don't include me). I may even just do the one with my kids dressing
up to do a reenactment with what was thought to be his last one, but
has made it to do a couple more. Another love of ours is Operation
Christmas Child, which we do at our church and in NC. We also were
active with an adult mentally handicapped Explorer/scout group -
that primarily was my husband's activity while I took care of kids,
Grandkids and my mom - the wonderful Eleanor Jonah. We were also
responsible for my mother-in-law and now his brother.
I have great
support from my sister - Judy (Damron) in Indiana and my brother
Charlie (Charles/Chuck Jonah) in Illinois. We have lived in the
Cincinnati area for 35 years, after our earlier years of traveling
with the service and jobs.
Life is
good, God is good.
