2012

Jim and I will celebrate our 43rd anniversary this December. We’re thankful for our life together, and hopeful that there will be a breakthrough in finding a cure for neurological diseases.

I still think the horse is the best animal on the planet and spend most mornings in our barn riding and caring for the ones we have here. Am finding though it takes many more sit-ups and push-ups to continue doing the sport I love!

I try to stay informed politically and watch MSNBC regularly. I’m dismayed about how polarized our country has become though and wish we could go back to the simpler, less complicated times of our youth.

I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone at our 50th!

2008

I have been fortunate to be able to enjoy and pursue my passion for most of my life.  And as most of you know, my passion has always been horses.  Jim and I were married in 1969 and soon after that we opened Kings Hill Stable north of Lafayette.  Our web site is www.kingshillstable.com if anyone is interested.  Over the years, we have given lots of lessons and boarded many horses.  I don’t compete any more but still thoroughly enjoy the everyday riding.  When the Pan Am Games were held in Indianapolis, I was chairman of the Dressage events for the Equestrian Games, but the thing I am the proudest of is helping to start a therapeutic riding program for children.  The program is still going strong and now offers riding classes for physically and mentally challenged adults as well.

I’ve always enjoyed volunteering with local not-for-profit groups, particularly our local historical society and Duncan Hall.  Currently I am in charge of an everyday manners program for elementary schools.  By the end of the year, we will have had over 1200 first graders participate!

Both Jim and I are Purdue graduates and I’ve been active in the Purdue Alumni Association and the College of Liberal Arts Alumni group.  Three years ago we endowed scholarships for students in Mechanical Engineering and Liberal Arts in memory of our fathers who were both devoted Purdue people.  It’s been exciting interacting with such appreciative and capable students!

I’m looking forward to our reunion this summer.  Hope to see all of you there!
